The Buffalo Bayou bike and jogging trail has been completely redone over the past few years and the results are amazing! The park is over 160 acres and the biking and jogging trail is easily one of the best bike paths Houston has to offer. Bike along the path next to Buffalo Bayou into downtown. Be sure to stop and take in the art and memorials along the way. It will not disappoint! Best for: Mountain bike, road bike, cruiser - whatever you want this trail can handle it! It is freshly paved and there is a dedicated path so go as fast or as slow as you like!
The Heights bike trail in Houston has been expanding as well and it is a great path to explore with friends or as a family. This well paved path will take you through one of the most historic and loved neighborhoods in Houston before taking you further east into downtown. Be sure to stop off on 19th street (between Shepherd and Yale) to visit the local shops! Best for: All types, but this trail is best at a slow pace so you can take in the sites and make stops along the way!
If you want to get away from hustle and bustle of downtown Houston, pack your bike in the car and take a short 18 mile drive west to Terry Hershey Park. This park spans over 500 acres and has incredible trails, especially for road biking. This is a great park to train for long rides, such as the MS150! Don't fret if you don't have a vehicle large enough to pack up your bike! Ayoopa has bike carrier rentals as well! Best for: Road bikes, but all types will fare fine on this trail! This trail is great for long rides!
